ASHEVILLE—Frank R. Lyda, age 80, formerly of Emma Community, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Mr. Lyda was born January 9, 1933, in Buncombe County. He was a US Army veteran during Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben McKinley and Bertha Mae Banks Lyda, and his wife, Dorothy Rice Allen who died in 2009.
Surviving are his stepdaughter, Jeannette Shook of Fletcher; daughter, Tina Keith and husband Vince of Mars Hill; sister, Jackie DeWeese of Asheville; step-grandchildren, Allen Shook and wife Deanette, Chris Shook and wife Chrissy, Jamie Keener and husband Jeff; step-great grandchildren, Danielle and Zane Keener, Ian Shook; granddaughter, Tiffany Moore and husband Lee; and great grandson, Hunter Moore.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 18, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Rob Cuevas officiating. Burial will be in Rice Family Cemetery, Barnardsville.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
