Gail W. McCracken

WEAVERVILLE—Gail W. McCracken, age 75, of 301 Kyfields, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2011. Mrs. McCracken was born March 31, 1936, in Knoxville, Tenn., and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Gail was a retired teacher and librarian. She was a graduate of WCU with a Masters in Library Science. She was a member of Weaverville United Methodist Church. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Mozelle Williams, and her loving husband, Joe Dale McCracken who died in 1985. Surviving are her children, Alice and Eddie Bryant, Mike McCracken and Resia S. Reese, and David and Cathy McCracken; sister, JoAnn Soesbee; grandchildren, Adam, Josh, Kenny, Anna, Michael, Lacey, and Ricky; and great grandson, Corbin. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Jerry Jamerson officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
