GARY COOPER HOWELL WEAVERVILLE – Gary Cooper Howell left his earthly home on the morning of his 82nd birthday. Mr. Howell was born January 29, 1934, in Burnsville to the late Fred and Pansy Burnett Howell. He was a member of Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church where he served as a Ruling Elder and will be greatly missed. Gary was an owner/operator with Deneen Mica Company in Micaville, NC for over 30 years. He then worked in the transportation department of Ingles Markets for 13 years. He was also preceded in death by his oldest sister, Ethel Norman. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Peggy Lee Howell; daughters, Pam Wilson and husband Dennis, and Debbie Hall and husband Richard; siblings, Betty McKinney, Mary Green, Joyce Elliott, Jim Howell and wife Mary, Ken Howell and wife Peggy, and Melody Bell and husband Doley; and brother-in-law, Bob Mundy and wife Mary Beth. Gary was a devoted grandfather and is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Jay Rabuck officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the funeral home.
