ASHEVILLE - Gay A. "Billy" English, age 70, of Asheville, died Saturday, July 25, 2015. Mr. English was born June 27, 1945, in Buncombe County and was a resident of Madison County for most of his life. Billy was employed with the NC DOT and later was a private estate caretaker in Asheville. He was a son of the late Condra Allen and Orla Bailey English and was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim English. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Linda McMahan English; children, Bryan A. English, Diana Ahumada, and Debbie English, all of Tucson, AZ; sister, Jessie Eaton of Asheville; brothers, Lee English of SC and Raeford English of Mars Hill; four grandchildren, Jordan English Burchette, Cody English, Channing Shepherd and Austin Ahumada. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in Snelson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
