Gene Garrison

WEAVERVILLE– David Eugene Garrison, 80, of Sugar Creek Road, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Gene was born August 21, 1937 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He retired from Hobson Construction Company as a foreman after 48 years. Gene loved to farm, grow vegetables to give away and help any friend or neighbor that he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Melvin and Imogene Daniels Garrison; wife Patsy Brookshire Garrison who died in 2007, son, Johnny Garrison and brothers, Jack, Morris and Don. Surviving are his son, Darrell Garrison; sisters, Bea Riley, June Guthrie and husband Roy, and Jane Robinson; brothers, Dan Garrison and wife Rose, and Marion Garrison; sisters-in-law, Gloria Garrison, Margaret and Norma and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017 in Morgan Hill Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with Reverends Roy Shepherd and Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at West Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
