Genell \ Ledford

WEAVERVILLE—Genell "Nell" Ledford, age 69, of 6 Oakland Street, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 3, 2008. Mrs. Ledford was born September 18, 1939 in Buncombe County to the late Hobart and Ruth Maynor Ball. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie, Frank, Jesse and Charles Ball. For the past 23 years Nell and Bill owned and operated Le Tan Tanning Salon in Weaverville. Nell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law who is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Ledford, daughter, Teresa Burnette and husband Stacey of Weaverville; grandson, Hunter Burnette who was "the light of her life"; brother, T.L. Ball of Barnardsville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Revs. Nelson Ponder and Petty Burnette officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence.
