GENEVA ROGERS CHEEK
WEAVERVILLE-Geneva Rogers Cheek, age 92, passed away August 24, 2014. She was a resident of Mars Hill Retirement Community in Madison County. Mrs. Cheek was born February 1, 1922 in Madison County to Doyle and Sonnie Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Sonnie Rogers, her husband Charles Cheek, who passed away August 8, 1994, sister; Blanche Edwards of Madison County, and an infant son.
She is survived by her son; Gregory Cheek and wife Christy of Weaverville, two grandchildren; Cody and Katie Cheek of Weaverville, a niece; Joyce Lee Gregg of Mars Hill, and a nephew; Bobby Edwards and wife Judy of Etowah and several cousins.
Mr. and Mrs. Cheek lived at 7 Chestnut Street in Weaverville for over 50 years. Mrs. Cheek was formerly employed at Square D. She was very active at First Baptist Church, Weaverville where she was a long time member. She had almost perfect attendance until the last two years. Geneva taught Sunday school for many years, was a member of the Joy Group and oversaw the scouts too. She loved to sing and was a member of the choir. She loved all types of music and enjoyed playing the organ and other instruments.
Geneva loved her big dog Sampson who is now living with her son who is taking good care of him. Geneva also loved all types of flowers and received awards for her gardens and yard. She loved watching all types of sporting events and didn't miss a game when Greg was playing in high school and college. She also loved her grandchildren and cheered them on in any sport they played or any school performance they were in. She loved life and enjoyed being social.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Weaverville, with Reverend Jim McCoy and Reverend Mitch Wilson officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Greg and Christy Cheek at 11 Williams Street in Weaverville.

They all did an incredible job and were loving and caring.
