WEAVERVILLE—Geneva Robinson Hamlin, age 87, of Weaverville, died Sunday, July 5, 2009.
Mrs. Hamlin was born November 16, 1921, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was an avid quilter and gardener. Mrs. Hamlin was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and loved her Sunday school class and friends. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her loving family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She was the wife of the late John H. Hamlin who died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Arpheen Pate Robinson; her daughter Barbara Strack, son Arthur Hamlin, two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are her daughters, Jonnie Honeycutt, Judy Thompson and her husband Robert, Gloria Hamlin, and Connie Clark and her husband Greg; sons, Larry Hamlin and his wife Nancy and Michael Hamlin; Jimmy and Nancy Hamlin and Pat Cooper, whom she loved as her own children; sisters, Luna Rice, Helen Tolley and Iva Elkins; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Woodland Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Geneva Hamlin.
