Geneva Sumner

GENEVA SUMNER WEAVERVILLE – Geneva Sumner, age 93, of Weaverville died January 5, 2017. Mrs. Sumner was born February 16, 1923 in Aroostook County, Maine and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Geneva was a homemaker and military wife of the late Edwin James Sumner who died in 1994. She was the daughter of George and Gertrude Morin Roy. Mrs. Sumner was a member of Red Oak Church of Christ. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Sumner Benfield; grandchildren, Jonathan Mark Benfield, Matthew David Benfield, Charles Timothy Benfield, Tammy Reynolds. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Wayne Cole officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
