WEAVERVILLE—Geraldine Jacks Wolff Coyle, age 72, of Weaverville died Thursday, December 23, 2010, with her children by her side.
Gerri was born August 17, 1938, in Newark, NJ, and grew up in Garfield, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Charlotte Jacks. She spent many years in Clifton, NJ, with family and friends. Gerri married Bud Wolff in 1956. Together they had two children, Buddy and Cindy Wolff. Gerri later married Bill Coyle. They lived happily for several years. Gerri and Bill settled in Asheville. Gerri had a variety of jobs including working as a lunch lady/playground monitor at School #5 in Clifton, NJ. She also worked at Holt Reinhart and Winston and Boris Kroll, both in New Jersey. She served as union representative at Boris Kroll. Gerri worked at the WNGHAP group home and IWC in Asheville. The heart of her passion was in interior design. Gerri also enjoyed volunteering her time at Vance Elementary School. She was a member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Those who knew Gerri knew she was a woman who said what was on her mind. She may have appeared to have a hard exterior but was easy to love.
She leaves behind her son, Buddy Wolff of Aurora, CO; daughter, Cindy Wolff of Weaverville; and brother, Curtis Jacks and wife Betty Ann of Greensboro, GA. Gerri was blessed to have four granddaughters, Jessica Drummond and husband Brad, Jordan and Jaclyn Wolff, all of Aurora, CO, and Sarah Cohen of Weaverville. Gerri's first great grandson, Brody Drummond, of Aurora, CO, was born in October 2010. She had several nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Gerri will be remembered for her words, "I did it my way."
The family will host a celebration of Gerri's life on Monday, December 27, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at Pastabilities Restaurant, 743 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
