Gladys Cole Bartlett

GLADYS COLE BARTLETT ASHEVILLE - Gladys Cole Bartlett, age 89, of Asheville, died Monday, May 12, 2014. Mrs. Bartlett was born August 11, 1924 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was the daughter of the late James N. and Pearl Jump Cole and wife of the late Marvin Bartlett. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Bartlett; sisters, Martha Griffin, Mary Holcombe, Bonnie Bradley, and Marlie Rhodes; and brother, Denver Cole. Surviving are her daughter, Katherine "Kathy" Cook of Asheville; and sons, William "Gus" Capps and wife Priscila of Spring Hope, NC, and Terry Bartlett and wife Sheila of Smithville, TN; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Phillip Park officiating. Burial will be in Penland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
