Glenda Jo West Huneycutt

WEAVERVILLE/ALBEMARLE- Glenda Jo West Huneycutt, age 78, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 4, 2024, after a period of declining health.

Glenda was born January 28, 1946, in Buncombe County; she was named after her father and mother, the late Glen West, Jr. and Emily Jo Bishop West. She was a 1964 graduate of North Buncombe High School and in 1965 graduated from St. Genevieve of the Pines for Secretaries. Glenda sang in the choir for 40 plus years at Weaverville United Methodist Church and later at Main Street United Methodist Church in Albemarle, where she served on the Administrative Board and Pastor Relations Committee. She is a current member of Pine Grove Methodist Church in Albemarle. Glenda retired as a deputy clerk of Superior Court, Buncombe County. Her hobbies included painting beautiful Santa’s and lighthouses, cross stitch, crochet, and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Huneycutt Burleson and husband Dale; son, Chris Huneycutt and wife Callie; sister, Pat West Crawford; brother, Gary C. West and wife Vicki; grandchildren, Leah and Laton Burleson, Cole and Claire Carter, Kinley Huneycutt and Parker Huneycutt and wife Mary; one niece, Emily Crawford Elrod and husband Jacob; great nephew, Crawford Elrod and great niece, Caroline Elrod.   

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Reverend Kent Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the funeral home
