ASHEVILLE – Glenn Cook, Sr., age 86, of Asheville, died Monday, August 13, 2018.
Glenn was born May 2, 1932 in Madison County to the late Starling and Mettie Shelton Cook. He worked in research and development with General Electric. Glenn later worked internationally for Philips North America and then founded IMECO, Inc. A veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army, he also served in the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. His hobbies included stained glass, photography, fly fishing, hiking, painting, gardening and cooking. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jones Cook who died in 2014.
Surviving are his son Glenn Cook, Jr. and wife Wendy of Decatur, GA; daughters Cindy Cook and husband Steve of Granbury, TX, and Kim Cook of Denver, CO; grandchildren Sam, Misty and David; great-grandchildren Rody, Colt, Steven, and Caroline, and his little dog Sophie.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Piney Mountain Baptist Church, Weaverville. Reverends Steve Freeman, Charles Phillips and Powell Young will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at West Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the services.
