ASHEVILLE – Gordon Edward Moore, age 84, of Asheville, died Saturday, March 27, 2021 at CarePartners Solace Center after a long struggle with several diseases. He “fought the good fight” and went through his final days with great grace.
Mr. Moore was born in Chicago, IL to the late John and Ruby White Moore. He was always interested in other people and tried to be encouraging. Gordon retired as an Entomologist and formerly worked with the US Forest Service and the E.P.A. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, serving as an Elder Emeritus.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Eileen Moore; two sons, Roger D. Moore and wife Judi, and Nathan M. Moore; a daughter, Janet L. Ross; five grandchildren, Amy, Sarah and Joshua Moore, Lauren Henry, and Alyssa Ross; a brother, David Moore; and two sisters, Judi Doe, and Martha Conner.
His memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 in First Presbyterian Church, Weaverville. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. Reverend Skip Gillikin will officiate both services.
Per the NC Governor, masks are required.
