WEAVERVILLE—Grace Cook Holcombe, age 98, of Weaverville, died Saturday, January 14, 2012.
Mrs. Holcombe was born June 4, 1913, in Buncombe County. She was a member of Reems Creek–Beech Presbyterian Church. She was the daughter of the late Harley and Bonnie Ray Cook and wife of the late Kelsey W. Holcombe who died January 14, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her sisters Kate Angel, Justine Nesbitt and brother Duain Cook.
Surviving is her daughter, Clara Queen of Weaverville; granddaughter, Michelle Queen Winslow and husband Chris; grandson, Mark Queen; great grandson, Mathew Queen; sisters, Betty Owenby, Mary Dean Davis, Alice Zikewich and husband Joe; brother, Edwin Cook; dear sweet sister-in-law, Hilda Cook Cash.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Dr. Henry D. Scoggins and Rev. Dr. Tom Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00—8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
