H. Carter Pounders

H. CARTER POUNDERS, SR. ASHEVILLE - H. Carter Pounders Sr., age 80 of Woodfin died peacefully at the John F. Keever Solace center on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Mr. Pounders was born August 21, 1935 in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Herman Allen and Fuchsia Pounders. Carter was a 1953 graduate of Woodfin High School and an Air Force veteran. In 1996 he retired from the North Carolina DOT after 43 years of service as an engineer. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a leader in his church and a Gideon. He enjoyed an active and fulfilling life as an avid radio control modeler, golfer and bowler. Surviving are his wife Pat Patterson Pounders; daughter, Lisa Pounders; son, Carter Pounders and wife Ronda; sister, Janet Penland; brother, Bobby Pounders; grandchildren Joshua and Moses Pounders. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, in Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave., Woodfin with Reverend Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the church.
