WEAVERVILLE - Harold Vance Brank, Sr., age 88, of Weaverville died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care.
Mr. Brank was born February 15, 1930 to the late Frank Roberts Brank and Pauline Whitted Brank; he had lived all of his life in Buncombe County. For 35 years he worked at the Asheville Citizen Times; after retiring he worked at the Buncombe County Jail. He loved to spend time in Tennessee and especially Cade’s Cove. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Sharp Brank who died in 2015; son, Vance Brank and brother, Paul Brank.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Lackey; daughter-in-law, Terie Brank; sister-in-law, Margie Brank; brother, David Brank, who took such special care of him daily; grandchildren, Vanessa Brank, Brittany Morawietz, and Courtney Bingham and husband Bobby; great grandchildren, Terra and Justin Hayes, Gracie, Wiley and Gage Bingham and Brooklyn Morawietz; and great great granddaughter, Anaiah Maybelle Griffin.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Rev. Jerry Jamerson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Union Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
