HENDERSONVILLE - Helen Archie, age 95 formerly of Weaverville died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Life Care Center of Hendersonville. Mrs. Archie was born June 30, 1920 in Mitchell County to the late W.J. and Nell Jarrett Boone. Mrs. Archie lived in Miami, FL for 34 years before moving to Asheville in 1982. She enjoyed volunteer work and was very active in her community and with ABCCM. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Weaverville. She was preceded in death by her first husband Earl Starr who died in 1988; and sister, Georgia Warren. Surviving are her husband of 20 years Charlie Archie; daughter, Eileen Jang; sister, Sylvia Snead; and grandson Scott Jang. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Skip Gillikin officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Silver Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, NC Hwy 80 North, Bakersville, NC 28705. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Penland School of Crafts, PO Box 37, Penland, NC 28765.
