ASHEVILLE—Helen Hyer Dockery, age 97, of Asheville, died Friday, June 15, 2012.
Mrs. Dockery was born July 28, 1914, in Buncombe County where she lived all of her life. She was a homemaker and also worked at Hadley and American Enka. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Leslie and Cleo Gentry Hyer; husband, William Dockery who died in 1980; sisters, Violet, Dorothy, Annie, and Mary; brothers, Bill, Paul, Glen and Edwin; and grandson, Mark Carson.
Surviving are her daughter, Doris Carson and husband James of Asheville; son, William D. \"Bill\" Dockery and wife June of Candler; brothers, Conley Hyer of Weaverville and Raymond Hyer and wife Evelyn of DeLand, Fla.; grandchildren, David, Daniel and Chris Dockery, and Donald, Carson and Jennifer Morgan; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Daniel Dockery officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
