Helen Sherlin Parton

WEAVERVILLE—Helen Sherlin Parton, age 83, of Weaverville died Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Mrs. Parton was born February 12, 1926, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Maggie Rutledge Sherlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jasper N. Parton, Sr., who died in 1996. Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Nelms of Weaverville and Delores Johnson of Washington; son, Jasper N. "Bud" Parton, Jr., of Asheville; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and four step grandchildren. Mrs. Parton's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Mike King officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Flowers are welcome.
