HELEN MARIE PERKINS WEAVERVILLE -This is not an obituary! This is a tribute to a wonderful woman who raised a husband, one daughter and two sons during the past 48 years. She forbade the writing of an obituary because she did not want to sadden her friends and family. She also did not want her friends to have to attend any service for her. She spent her 74 years in New Jersey, New York, Georgia and North Carolina. She worked as a Social Worker, Realtor, secretary and a business Vice President. She leaves behind 1 daughter and son-in-law with 3 children, 2 sons and daughter-in-laws with 5 children and many friends from her former life. But the last 13 years spent in Weaverville introduced her to some of the friendliest and kindest people she had ever met. In her last 26 years she endured 3 separate bouts with cancer and in the end a tussle with a vascular problem that was probably caused by the cancer treatments. There was a lot of pain but never did we hear, "why me"? She instructed us to abstain from telling anyone about her health condition. It would be a lie to say that we obeyed her. She will be missed by many, she was liked by all, and she was loved by most. We will be in deep trouble when she finds out about this note.
