WEAVERVILLE– Hester Hensley Hunter, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017, just two days after her 100th birthday.
Mrs. Hunter was born December 18, 1917 in Unicoi County, TN to the late Oscar and Texie McIntosh Hensley. She was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Hester was a true homemaker, loving wife and doting mother. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hunter, who died in 1944; sons, Dean and Jack Dempsey Hunter; sisters, Mae and Josephine Hensley; brothers, Floyd and Robert Hensley.
Surviving are her sisters, Betty Stines, Edith Penland, Carol McIntosh, Ollie Rice and Iva Nell Coli; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave. Weaverville. Robbie Ledford will officiate. Burial will be in Red Oak Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
