Hilda Rhea Cook Cash

HILDA RHEA COOK CASH WEAVERVILLE - Hilda Rhea Cook Cash, age 89, long time resident of the Beech Community, went home to join her heavenly family, Thursday, January 7, 2016. Hilda was born March 5, 1926 in Buncombe County to the late Leonard C. and Jean Buckner Rhea. Hilda helped her mother run the Reems Creek Dining Room from 1960-1968. She was the first Title 1 teacher’s aide in Weaverville and later worked for the Weaverville Post Office until her retirement. After retirement Hilda was active in the Weaverville Music Society, Buncombe County Extension and Community Association, and served on the board of the Dry Ridge Museum. She was an active lifelong member of the Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Duain Cook who died in 1965 and her husband, Michael Joseph Cash who died in 1996; as well as a brother, Howard Rhea. Surviving are her two sons, Ron Cook and wife Sandy Gore Cook and David Cook and wife Sandra Kaye Cook all of Weaverville; sister, Bobbie Eastridge of Forest City; six grandchildren, Ronnie Cook and Christy Broadhead and husband Steven all of Salt Lake City, Utah, David Cook, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Clewiston, FL, Ryan Cook of Hoschton, GA, James Greenlee of Lexington, KY, and Mary Moak and husband Tim of Clinton, MS and nine great grandchildren, Michael Twitchen, Dane and Gage Broadhead, Darien and Olivia Cook, April and Angelina Cook, and Morgan and Mason Moak. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 in Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jay Rabuck officiating. Hal Rhea and Dean McDaris will be providing the music with vocals by Mary Moak. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10th at West Funeral Home where Mrs. Cash will remain until being placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
