Hilda Brown Cross

WEAVERVILLE – Hilda Brown Cross, age 86 of 11 Jupiter Hills Drive died Sunday, January 15, 2017. Mrs. Cross was born June 21, 1930 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of Piney Mountain Baptist Church where she was still the active pianist. Preceding her in death were her parents, Edd and Pansy Arrowood Brown; brothers, Richard and Ottis Brown; sister, Helen Burnette. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harry Clay Cross who died in 1994. Surviving are her sons, Stewart Cross and Doug Cross both of Weaverville; daughters-in-law, June and Kada; grandchildren, Raleigh, Tory, Merit, Tegan and Tyler and great granddaughter, Harper. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Piney Mountain Baptist Church with Reverends Steve Freeman and Roy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. At other times the family will be at the residence.
