WEAVERVLLE - Howard Wayne Capps, age 84, of Indian Camp Branch Rd. died Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Mr. Capps was born February 20, 1929, in Madison County and was a resident of Weaverville since 1970 where he was the former owner of Capps Grocery Store and later retired from Andrex Knitting Mill. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church. Son of the late Golman Hezekiah and Pearl Wheeler Capps; he was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Allie Capps; along with daughter, Gail Capps, son, Daryl Capps, and 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Louise Betty Bryant Capps, daughters, Phyllis Skyes of Weaverville, Brenda George of Asheville, Wilma Maxwell and husband Wendell of Weaverville, and Vicki Honeycutt and husband Gerald of Weaverville; step-daughters, Linda McDade of Morganton, and Rosalie Allen of Hendersonville; step-son, James Duckett of Morganton, and brother Worley Capps of Marshall; 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 step-great grandchildren. His funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 in Westview Baptist Church, 97 Kennedy Rd., Weaverville, with Rev. Preston Riddle, Rev. Cliff Baker, and Rev. Rickey Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Howard Capps Family Cemetery, Indian Camp Branch Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the residence. At end of ramp turn right and go to the traffic light. Turn left and stay in the left lane across the bridge to the stop sign. Go straight across entering Clark's Chapel Rd. The second road on the right is Kennedy Rd. Turn right and go .3 miles to the church on the right. **Going out North Main Street in Weaverville go through the traffic light at the junction of Monticello Rd. & Dula Spring and stay in the left lane across the bridge to the stop sign. Go Straight across entering Clark's Chapel Rd. The second road on the right is Kennedy Rd. Turn right and go .3 miles to the church on the right.
