HOYT WILLARD CHAMBERS WEAVERVILLE - Hoyt Willard Chambers, age 83, of 210 Stockton Rd. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Thursday, March 27, 2014. Mr. Chambers was born April 9, 1930 in Buncombe County. He was a faithful servant to his family and a member, former officer and deacon at Piney Mountain Baptist Church. Hoyt was our beloved Daddy, Papaw and friend. He was a lifelong farmer and a manager of A & P Grocery for 26 years. A son of the late Jerome C. and Addie Jane Chandler Chambers, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie Lea Dillingham Chambers who died in 1975; son, Rodney Hoyt Chambers who died in 1984; grandson Tim Bridgers; and sister, Lucile Dixon. Surviving are his daughters, Patricia Woodruff and husband George and Cathy Bridgers and husband Curtis; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014, in Piney Mountain Baptist Church, 150 Elkins Branch Rd, Weaverville with Rev. Sibbald Lambert, Rev. Jerry Shelton, and Rev. Shawn Scott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Rev. Steve Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday at West Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of George and Patricia Woodruff, 230 Stockton Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787. Flowers are welcome. Directions to the Church Take 19 & 23 North, also Future I-26 to exit 15 (marked Jupiter/Barnardsville). At the end of the ramp turn right on State Hwy. 197 follow this for 1.7 miles and turn left on Stockton Branch Road. Go about 3/10 miles and turn left on Elkins Branch Road.
