HUGH W. EDWARDS WEAVERVILLE - Hugh W. Edwards, age 85 of Weaverville passed away Monday, August 17, 2015. Mr. Edwards was born February 11, 1930 in Mars Hill to the late Arles and Pearl Fisher Edwards. Hugh was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Western and Southern Insurance Company in 1986. In later years he worked for Harry's On The Hill and Enterprise Rent A Car as a transport driver. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Carter of Fletcher; and a brother, Wayne Edwards of Weaverville. Surviving are his wife of 62 years Jean Shepherd Edwards; son, Michael Edwards, wife Teresa and granddaughter Sara Edwards of Asheville; daughter, Susan Edwards Rhodes, husband Richard of Hendersonville and grandson, Will Rhodes of Roanoke, VA. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015, in First Baptist Church, Weaverville, of which he was a dedicated member for 46 years. Reverends Lee Roy Denton, Jerry Jamerson and Richard Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Flowers are welcome.
