WOODFIN—Ida Mae Wilson Laws, age 93, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Emerald Ridge Care Center.
Mrs. Laws was born November 7, 1915, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She had been a resident of Emerald Ridge for almost 10 years and during that time was involved in all the activities and loved to help the other residents. She was a member of Upper Laurel Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Walter Laws; son, Roy Laws; sister, Ethel Stranton; and brothers, Persian, Reece, James, and Donald Wilson.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty Bridges and husband Ronnie of Alexander; sons, Edd Laws and wife Polly of Woodfin and Bobby Laws and wife Glenda of Pickens, S.C.; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Bobby Lee Laws, Jr., and Rev. William Heatherly officiating. Burial will be in Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity in honor of Mrs. Laws.
