Irma Fox Guthrie

WEAVERVILLE—Irma Fox Guthrie, age 86, of Eller Ford Rd., died Saturday, March 24, 2012. Mrs. Guthrie was born June 16, 1925, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was formerly employed with Hadley's Corp. and a charter member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Loneasy Bishop Fox; sisters, Pauline Reid and Lucille Fox; brothers, Hilliard, Joe and J.B. Fox; and wife of the late Troy Guthrie who died in 1998. Surviving are her daughters, June Clark, Joyce Guthrie, Marcia Roberts and her husband Tim, all of Weaverville; sisters, Aline Allman of Weaverville, Velma Freeman of Marshall and Diana Hyder of Charleston, SC; 3 grandchildren, Teresa Gordon and her husband Kevin, Tina Taylor and her husband Tony, Tracy Crowe and his wife Casey; 4 great grandchildren, Devon and Danielle Taylor, Lauren and Zachary Gordon. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Parker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville where her body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Marcia and Tim Roberts, 11 Whispering Hills Dr., Weaverville. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
