ASHEVILLE - Irwin Weil, 91, of Asheville passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 12, 2012.
Irwin was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on December 20, 1920, to Franklin Jacob and Alma Weil and retired to Asheville in 1985. He was active in the Buffalo community in the Auxiliary police and as President of the Buffalo Food Brokers Association. Irv and his wife of 67 years, Esther, traveled extensively in their Airstream trailer as a longtime member of the Wally Byam Airstream club. Their travels included Mexico, US, Canada, and Africa.
Irwin is survived by his, daughters Gail Bauman and Sharon Campbell, son Keith, son-in-law Keith Campbell, daughter-in-law Cherie Weil; and grandchildren, Jessica, Molly, Seth, Jillian, Natalie, and Christian.
A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 171 Beaverdam Road, Asheville, N.C., on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 2:00 PM.
