J.B. “JACK” ALLMAN
WEST ASHEVILLE – J.B. “Jack” Allman, age 78, of West Asheville, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
Mr. Allman was born September 5, 1937 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He had retired from working construction and serving as a night watchman. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed walking. He was a son of the late Wilbur and Pansy McGalliard Allman and was also preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Rogers; and brother, Donald Allman.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Sherlin Allman; daughter, Rebecca Cole; son, Jack Bennett Allman, Jr. and wife Dawn; sisters, Betty Ann Edwards, Mattie Jarvis, and Peggy Joyce Brooks; seven grandchildren, Jason and his wife Stephanie, Jacqueline, and Lynn, James, Stephen, Tyson, Patrick; and two great grandchildren, Johanna and Jayden.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Gary Haynes officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the home.
