J. D. TAYLOR WEAVERVILLE—J. D. Taylor, age 76, of 26 Phipps Street, died Friday, July 11, 2008. J.D. was born February 2, 1932 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was formerly employed at Hadley's of Weaverville, Eckerd Drug Store and retired from the ABC Store. He was a former member of First Baptist Church Weaverville. J. D. was a loving husband, father and family man. He was the son of the late Lawrence Taylor, Sr. and Blanche Buckner Taylor. J.D. was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Anders Taylor and son, Stan Taylor. Surviving is his son, Jim Taylor of Weaverville; brother, Richard L. Taylor, Jr. of Norton, Va.; grandson, Jay Taylor of Charlotte and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Veteran's Garden at West Memorial Park, with Rev. Jerry Jamerson officiating. At other times, the family will be at the home of Jim Taylor, 109 S. Main Street, Weaverville.
