BARNARDSVILLE—Soloman Jack Garrison, age 72, of 325 Dillingham Road, died Sunday, September 23, 2007. Mr. Garrison was born January 28, 1935 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a retired manager of Barnardsville Telephone Company and Saluda Mountain Telephone Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. His parents, Lester Melvin and Imogene Daniels Garrison as well as his son, Steve Garrison who died June 3, 2007 and brother, Morris Garrison preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Reynolds Garrison; sons, David Scott Garrison of Barnardsville and Kevin Douglas Garrison and wife Mandy Kelley Garrison of Weaverville; sisters, Beatrice G. Riley of Johnson City, Tenn., June G. Guthrie and husband Roy Lee of Barnardsville and Jane G. Robinson and husband Ray of Hickory, N.C.; brothers, Gene Garrison and wife Patsy of Barnardsville, Dan Garrison and wife Rose, Don Garrison and wife Margaret and Marion Garrison all of Weaverville; grandchildren, Emilie James and Braxton Garrison. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Morgan Hill Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Reverends Kevin Garner, Gayle Brown and Steve Conard officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at West Funeral Home 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the services. At other times the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Morgan Hill Baptist Church, C/O Linda Childers, 211 Morgan Branch Road, Weaverville, NC 28787.
