WOODFIN—Jack W. Silver, age 86, of 209 Old Weaverville Rd., died Friday, February 1, 2013. Mr. Silver was born October 2, 1926, in Buncombe County. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army, Occupation Troops, Japan. Jack was one of the founding members of Morningview Baptist Church and Fellowship Baptist Church. He was the owner of Silver Brake and Truck. Jack was the son of the late Foy and Bettie Ray Silver, and husband of the late Louise Jones Silver who died in 2007. Surviving are his daughter Carolyn Holloway and husband Ivan of Asheville, son Patrick G. Silver of Woodfin, granddaughter Amanda Holloway Williford and husband Joshua, grandson Josh Holloway and wife Sarah, great grandson Eli Holloway, special sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Jerry Kent officiating. Burial will be in Clark's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
