Jack Woodson

Jack Woodson, age 91, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Mr. Woodson was born April 30, 1930, in Buncombe County to the late Grady and Nona Gowan Woodson. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. After 42 years of service, Jack retired from the Department of Transportation. He enjoyed mowing his yard and considered it his masterpiece.

Jack was the 2019 recipient of the WLOS “Dynamite Dad” Award. He was a proud father who took care of and always looked after his family. His family always came first, no matter what. He always put their needs above his own.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Lee Honeycutt Woodson, who died in 2004; daughter, Patricia Woodson; and sisters, Reva Pike and Sylvia Pike.

Surviving are his daughters, Ann Knupp (Morris) of Alexander, Linda Eller of Clayton, GA, and Jackie Price of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Granddaughter, Debbie Allen (Randy); Grandson, Matthew Price (Brittney); and great-grandson, Cody Allen (Ashley).

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Flint Hill Cemetery, 690 Panther Branch Road, Alexander. Reverend Wesley Pike will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at West Funeral Home, Weaverville. 

At other times, the family will be at the home of Ann Knupp, 221 Flint Hill Rd, Alexander.
