Jackson Newton Guice, Sr., age 88, of Weaverville passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025.
Mr. Guice was born on December 14, 1936, in Chattanooga, TN. He was raised from the age of 10 by the TN Baptist Children’s Home in Franklin, TN and was a graduate of Franklin High School. Jackson served briefly in the United States Marine Corps, where he was released due to a medical condition. He was employed until he was 80 years of age, finding purpose and joy in work. First in manufacturing and fabrication, most often as a supervisor, and later after retirement didn’t fit him, as a security guard for over eighteen years. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as recounting his real life childhood stories that would have inspired Mark Twain. His greatest joy was in fixing broken things from automobiles to a broken hinge. He was a man of Christian faith, and it was reflected in all of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Alger Guice, Sr. and Eva Lou Crowder Guice; brother, Carl Guice, Jr.; brother-in-law, Nick Kennedy; his second wife, Peggy Louise Black Guice; and daughter, Kimberly Diane Guice.
Jackson is survived by his sons, Jackson Guice, Jr. (Julie), Brian Guice, and Jeffrey Guice, sisters, Wanda Kennedy, and Bertha Odam; grandchildren, Elizabeth Guice, Sarah Lail (Tim), and Rachel Dunn (Sean); nieces and nephews, Carla Humphries (Lynn), Corky Guice (Beth), Pam Scott (Mark), Karen Ingram, and Lisa Newberry; as well as their children.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the TN Baptist Children’s Home, 1310 Franklin Rd., Brentwood, TN 37027.
