ASHEVILLE—James J. Boyett, age 88, of Morning Dew Drive, died Friday, May 1, 2009.
Mr. Boyett was born September 3, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN, and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1982. A member of the Senior Olympics, he was awarded many Gold and Silver Medals for his ability in basketball. James was a retired salesman for Wolverine Copper Tubing. Mr. Boyett was a member of Woodland Hills Church. He was a son of the late Jesse J. and Ella Stanger Boyett and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Janine Boyett.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Hill Boyett; daughter, Diane Boyett of Forest City; sister, Janice Olson of Chicago City, MN; and grandchildren, Michael Boyett of Asheville and Nicholas Boyett of Forest City.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2009, at West Memorial Park, Weaverville, with Rev. Frank Hopkins officiating. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
