JAMES W. HOLLAND WEAVERVILLE - The body of James W. Holland, age 87, of Weaverville, died Friday evening, April 17, 2015, in a nursing facility in Asheville. Jim was born October 4, 1927, in Gaston County to the late Dr. George Courts and Osie Pasour Holland and was the husband of the late Doris Craig Holland. He was also preceded in death by brothers, George and Daniel; and sisters, Ellen Shuford, and Margaret Farrar. Surviving are his son, Jim Holland and wife Deana of Weaverville; brother, William and his wife Jessie of Dallas, NC; and sister-in-law, Delores Holland of Raleigh. His graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015, in Oakwood Cemetery, West Franklin Boulevard, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Dwight Basham officiating. Those wishing to make a memorial gift are encouraged to consider the North Carolina Wildlife Diversity Endowment Fund, c/o NC Wildlife Resources Commission, 1702 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1702.
