ALEXANDER – James Ronald “Ronnie” Cooper, age 73, of Alexander died peacefully Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Solace Center in Asheville.  

He was born on February 21, 1950, in Buncombe County where he lived all of his life.  He grew up in Weaverville and was a 1968 graduate of North Buncombe High School.  He was a veteran of the Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam War.  He was the owner/operator of Dry Ridge Landscaping for 15 years.  

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Margaret Lewis Cooper.  He is survived by daughter, Christa Cauble (John) of Davidson, NC; son, James “Jamie” Cooper of Boiling Springs, SC; former wife, Carole Cooper of Davidson, NC; sister Melinda Shroat of Arden; brother Grady Cooper (Randy Smith) of Hendersonville; and granddaughters, Jocelyn and Charleyann “Grace” Wysong.

Ronnie will be laid to rest at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain where the family will hold a private committal service.
