James F. Whiting

WEAVERVILLE– James “Jim” Whiting, age 66 of Weaverville, died Monday, March 18, 2019.

Jim was born March 11, 1953 in Boise, Idaho and was a resident of W. Virginia most of his life. He had lived in North Carolina for the past 32 years. He was formerly employed at Union Carbide in W. Virginia and Petroleum Pump and Tank in Hendersonville. Jim was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was the son of the late William Franklin Whiting and Mabel Hunt Workman.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Sickels Whiting; daughters, Ashely and Jamie; three grandchildren; also, life-long friends, Chuck Hudson and David Santrock.

His service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in the Chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain; burial to follow.
