JEAN R. JONES MARS HILL - Jean R. Jones, age 82, of 1515 S. Main St., Mars Hill died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at John F. Keever Solace Center. Mrs. Jones was born February 7, 1931, in Madison Co. to the late Jack and Carrie Sanders Reed. Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by sisters, Tommie Lee and Nellie Reed; brothers, Bill, Kenneth, and Jerry Reed and husband, James E. Jones who died in 1972. Jean was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life and retired from Mills Manufacturing after 20 years of service. She was a devout Christian, and an avid Duke fan. Jean loved to cook for friends and family and she was always the person you turn to for comfort and advice. Her life revolved around her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Dayton of Mars Hill; sister, Dorothy Gosnell and brother, Clarence Reed both of Walnut; grandchildren; Michele Dayton and partner Gerald Riley, Craig Dayton and wife Jennifer, Nichole Early, and Jacqueline Dayton and 9 great grandchildren. Her graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, September 16, 2013, in Lewis Memorial Park, 415 Beaverdam Rd., Asheville, NC 28804 with Rev. Wade Zachary officiating. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
