Jerry L. Emory, age 82, of Weaverville, died Saturday, September 21, 2013. Mr. Emory was born March 24, 1931, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. Jerry was a retired Supervisor from Ball Manufacturing and was in the U.S. Army Airborne serving during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member and longtime deacon of Ivy Hill Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Jeff and Essie Myers Emory. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Goldsmith Emory; sons, Mark Emory and wife Lynne of Brevard, Neil Emory and wife Elizabeth of Dunn, Jeff Emory and wife Melanie of Lincolnton; sisters, Willie Mae Hawkins and Juanita Hill; and brothers, Rev. Worth Emory, and Eric Emory, all of Buncombe County; grandchildren, Brad Emory and wife Brooks, Leah, Hannah, Taylor, Hillary, Brian and Macy Emory; great grandchildren, Ellie and Lucy Emory. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at residence. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider Ivy Hill Baptist Church, c/o 331 Ivy Hill Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Worth Emory officiating.
