JERRY LAMAR MONCUS
ASHEVILLE –Jerry Lamar Moncus, age 63, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 24, 2016 after a year-long struggle with lung cancer.
Jerry was born on October 2, 1953 in Alabama, and as a military child grew up on military bases all over the world. He lived in Florida for many years, and had been a resident of Buncombe County, North Carolina since late 2000.
Jerry was a charming, funny, and charismatic man. He was a recent A-B Tech graduate and co-founder of a local startup. A kind and grateful soul who never met a stranger, he easily made friends wherever he went and enjoyed striking up conversations with anyone and everyone around him. Jerry was well known for his baking skills, and loved to show his gratitude by sharing fresh baked cookies, cakes, and brownies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Fred" Moncus and Mary "Charlotte" Prickett Moncus; sister, Cindy Moncus Stewart.
Surviving are his sister, Diane Moncus Hunter (Michael); brother-in-law, Keith Stewart; nephews, Brian Stewart (Miranda), Matthew Stewart (Raime); nieces, Shanna Hunter Gielski (Justin), and Jeanna Hunter; great nieces and nephews, Sophie and Axel Gielski, Riley and Bryant Thomas, Ashton, Tyler, Bradley and Aubrianna Stewart.
