JERRY L. OAKES ASHEVILLE-Jerry L. Oakes, age 62, of Asheville died Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Mr. Oakes was born December 18, 1950 in Buncombe County to the late Novel Fred and Louise Brigman Oakes. He was employed for 10 years in the telecommunications field with Howard Collins. Jerry was a US Navy Veteran. He enjoyed antiquing, gun shows, antique cars, and was the owner of a 1940 Ford. Conversation was one of his joys. Surviving are his sister, Donnie J. Oakes and brother, David Clay Oakes. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the Penland Cemetery with Rev. Larry Coates officiating.
