Jerry Lewis Reid

Jerry Lewis Reid, age 60, of Weaverville died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the St. Joseph campus of Mission Hospital. Mr. Reid was born January 29, 1957 in Iredell County and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1993. An avid fisherman, he was a member of Bass Masters and fished with several local clubs. He had worked at Borg Warner for over 30 years. Jerry was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and had a heart for missions and serving others; he had traveled to Brazil 13 times. He loved his grandchildren. He was the son of Jack Gabe Reid and the late, Louise Weathers Reid. A brother, Richard Reid also preceded Jerry in death. Surviving in addition to his father are his wife of 31 years, Teresa Silvers Reid; daughter, Canza Reid; son, Tracy Reid and wife Ashley; sister, Penny Reid Hawkes and husband Ken; brothers, Jackie Reid and wife Dora and David Reid; grandchildren, Riley and Remington as well as several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Locust Grove Baptist Church with Rev.’s Ben Whitmire and Dr. Walter Ponder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
