Jerry Weaver Wright

WEAVERVILLE – Jerry Weaver Wright, age 86, of Weaverville, died Tuesday, January 31, 2023. 

Jerry Weaver Wright was born June 25, 1936, in Buncombe County where he lived most of his life.  He was a member of the last class to graduate from Weaverville High School in 1954. An entrepreneur with many endeavors, he sold real estate with Wright and Associates and was a President of the Asheville Board of Realtors. He was a certified life underwriter with Nationwide Insurance Company and ranked #3 agent in the US. Jerry was also a skilled wood carver, an antique collector, and a lover of animals and music. He owned several businesses involving his many interests, including Backstage Sound Company specializing in sophisticated sound equipment, and Arbor Creek Kennel and Riding Stable.

Jerry was the son of the late Fred and Susie Buckner Wright.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Nancy Wright Atkins, Kathleen Landon, Leo Wright, and infant siblings James Everett, Billy Van and Mary Jo Wright.

He is survived by his daughters, Joni Wright-White and husband Kelly, and Jerita Wright; sister, Jane Roberts and husband, Benny; the mother of his children, Juanita Swann-Gilbert; four grandchildren, Jake, Jasmine, Alexander and Logan; one great-grandchild, Gabriel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 10 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with the Reverend Clark Henderson officiating.  A private burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Weaverville.  The family will greet friends following the service.
