JIM "SONNY" PRUITT WEAVERVILLE - Jim “Sonny” Pruitt, age 71 of 12 Pinerose Drive died Thursday, December 24, 2015. Jim was born September 1, 1944 in Buncombe County to the late Sidney Lester Pruitt and Beulah Mae Smith Pruitt. A graduate of Lee Edwards High School, he was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. Jim retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Judi Field Pruitt; daughters, Janet Hoopaugh of Florida and Janie Foster of Saluda and grandchildren, Stephen and Erin Hoopaugh and Bailey Foster. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Reverend Judson Rotan will officiate. Burial will be at 12:00 noon in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral. Flowers are welcome.
