ARDEN—JoAnn Dillingham Glasscock, age 80, from Barnardsville, died peacefully on January 29, 2013.
JoAnn was raised in these beautiful mountains and loved them fiercely. She also lived for many years in Los Angeles and spoke often and fondly of the ocean. She was a retired pediatric nurse instructor, who loved children but none greater than her own four who survive her: Mike Glasscock IV; Martina Glasscock-Barnes; Angie Glasscock and William Glasscock.
JoAnn was a joyful person who always had a song in her heart and on her lips. She was generous to a fault with an enormous heart. She welcomed anyone into her home and was always ready to set an extra plate at the table.
JoAnn is also survived by her sister Norma Dillingham Morgan, sister Nancy Dillingham Ernst, brother-in-law Andrew Ernst, brother Marty Dillingham, her grandson Henri Pretorius, niece Sally Morgan, nephew Reed Morgan, nephew James Ernst, nephew David Ernst, niece Laura Dillingham Davis, niece Angela Dillingham Mills, and two great nephews and six great nieces.
Services will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm, Mountain Valley United Methodist Church, 615 Dillingham Rd, Barnardsville, NC 28709.
JoAnn and her family would be honored to accept donations in her name to the Absalom Dillingham Cemetery, c/o Joretta Hall 147 Dillingham Rd, Barnardsville, NC 28709.
