WEAVERVILLE– Joanne Jones Hendrix, age 81, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019.
Mrs. Hendrix was born January 19, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late James C. and Willie Burnette Jones. She was a resident of Buncombe County all of her life and a member of The Red Hat Association. Joanne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she enjoyed sewing, spending time with family and friends, camping, boating, and gardening. Joanne loved to travel and was known to go with her late husband, Eddie B. Hendrix, to travel across the country on motorcycle for a month at a time. She was a member of Piney Mountain Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death were, two sisters, three brothers and her grandson, Justin Hendrix.
Surviving are her sons, Eddie Van Hendrix of Gold Hill, and Rodney Hendrix of Weaverville; granddaughter, Heather Hendrix of Weaverville; great-granddaughter, Shyanne Hatley, who was her biggest playmate, playing and laughing; brother, Edwin Jones; sisters-in-law, Vera Jones and Linda Jones; brother-in-law, Herman Parham; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Pastor Steve Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at the funeral home.
