ASHEVILLE – John C. Joyner, Jr., age 85, of Asheville, died Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Mr. Joyner was born January 1, 1933 in Buncombe County where he had lived most of his life. John received his undergraduate degree and his law degree from Wake Forest University. He worked for the Veterans Administration in Winston Salem and returned to Asheville where he joined his father at the law firm of Joyner and Joyner. John served in the US Army and was a member of First Baptist Church, Asheville. Preceding him in death are his parents, John C. Joyner, Sr. and Edith Pickens Joyner and sister, Jean Joyner Humbert.
Surviving are, the love of his life, Brenda Dillingham; sister, Nancy Joyner of Chapel Hill; brother-in-law, William “Bill” Humbert; two nephews and a niece.
His memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. A reception and greeting of friends will follow the memorial service at the funeral home. Private burial was in West Memorial Park.
